Graphics for Gravel
Mike Gravel is a passionate speaker, running for the 2008 Democratic Presidential ticket. I've not yet decided who to vote for, but I feel that it's a travesty to exclude him from the debates. I'm also surprised to find that there are very few graphics or buttons available for his fans & voters to use. So I've done three things to remedy this. Read on.
1. Buttons based upon Gravel's Cafe Press store
The round GIF images use an older form of transparency that doesn't look super cool, but is compatible with lots of browsers. The round PNG images use a newer form of transparency that will look good on many different backgrounds, but will only be compatible with newer browsers. Right click on any you like, select the option to save the image, and use your copy as you wish. Note that I do not know what rights or limitations Mike would place on these images. Presumably since he already uses them for his campaign, he will want more people to use them to promote his campaign.
2. Buttons based upon my own work
Here are three images that I derived from a high-resolution vector image I created. Right click on any you like, select the option to save the image, and use your copy as you wish. I am releasing these into the public domain, so you are free to use these without restriction. However, I would ask that you mention or link to this page, if you can. You don't have to, but if you can give me a shout-out in your footer or some other out-of-the-way place, that'd be a nice gesture. Thanks!
3. The vector image itself
This is a link to a zip file containing the vector image. It's in SVG format, and should open in Inkscape, OpenOffice, CorelDRAW, and Illustrator. Because it is a vector image, it can be resized without looking grainy or blocky. Please note that I pulled all these shapes myself, and I'm not 100% happy with the star that curves with the wavy flag, and I'm not sure that the stripes of the flag will fit snugly together if you enlarge it massively. If you are good at this stuff, please improve it and either send it to me or put it up on your own site and tell me about it.
