Graphics for Geeks
So I came across a color set today that is surprisingly pretty. I decided that I would put together some graphics that use the colors. And I am distributing these graphics to others, to use on their own sites.
1. Background image
I'm not sure how readable text will be on top of this image. You may want to layer an alpha screen or a light-colored box over the top of the background to help with readability. To get the image, use this link to get it and save it. I release this image into the public domain.
2. PNG images of a five color ribbon
Here are three images that I derived from a high-resolution vector image I created. Right click on any you like, select the option to save the image, and use your copy as you wish. Please note that these images are not public domain. I wish they were, but I've based these images upon another image that had a license. Happily, it's a good license. Here it is:
These images are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike license, version 2.5. The authors are Niki K, Messer Woland, and Tony Boyd.
I believe that if you include that text on your page – even if it's small print in the footer – then you're fine to use the image all you like. Have fun!

3. The vector image itself
This is a link to a zip file containing the vector image. It's in SVG format, and should open in Inkscape, OpenOffice, CorelDRAW, and Illustrator. Because it is a vector image, it can be resized without looking grainy or blocky. Please note that this image is not public domain. I wish it could be, but I've based it upon another image that had a license. Happily, it's a good license. Here it is:
