For those interested in doing podcasting (hooking audio files up with your blog), phpBB Podcast 0.9.1 is now available. The broad summary is that phpBB Podcast will add a file upload field to the phpBB New Topic page, and it will store MP3 files in a podcast directory. By itself, this isn't very impressive. However, couple it with phpBB Blog 2.2+, and suddenly those MP3 files are getting streamed out to listeners.

This particular version of phpBB Podcast contains 2 bugfixes. Included is a walkthrough for a full install, and a walkthrough to upgrade from 0.9.0 to 0.9.1. Have fun!

I subscribed to a podcast but only the last edition is showing. How can I download the first one? I am new to Itunes and even newer to podcasts. I subscribed to a free podcast (the Couch 2 5k running podcast) and the only one that is showing up in my podcast list is the "week 9" podcast. How can I download the very first installment?

A podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication.

The mode of delivery differentiates pod casting from other means of accessing media files over the Internet, such as direct download, or streamed web casting. A list of all the audio or video files currently associated with a given series is maintained centrally on the distributor's server as a web feed, and the listener or viewer employs special client application software known as a pod catcher that can access this web feed, check it for updates, and download any new files in the series. This process can be automated so that new files are downloaded automatically. Files are stored locally on the user's computer or other device ready for offline use, giving simple and convenient access to episodic content.

You must set the ad_network_ads_441.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).
